Jerry's obituary

Jerry Dale Lineberger, 82, of Northwest Arkansas, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on June 19th, 2022, while surrounded by family.

Jerry was born August 8th, 1939, to Dale and Mamie Lineberger in the small town of Avinger, Texas, near Texarkana.

After graduating from Texas High School in Texarkana, Texas, Class of 1958, Jerry went on to study at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville on a full football scholarship. He redshirted as a freshman in 1959 and during his sophomore year, he took the place of center position where he became known by many as the “Big Red Center.” Jerry proudly played as “Big Red Center” in the 1961 Cotton Bowl, as well as, 1962 and 1963 Sugar Bowl. As legendary former head coach Frank Broyles stated in the Arkansas Gazette, “He’s one of our most valuable men. He gives our attack a poise and continuity greatly to be desired. Jerry is one of our most serious and dedicated workers, a real Razorback.”

After graduating from the University of Arkansas, Jerry opened his own insurance company in Fayetteville where he earned many accolades, which kickstarted his career into a variety of successful avenues.

Jerry proudly served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The most important thing to Jerry was his family and his dear friends. Although we rejoice knowing he is with his Heavenly Father in Heaven, Jerry touched so many lives while here on Earth. He is best known as the man that never met a stranger and made everyone feel at home and special in his presence. Jerry possessed a contagious and one-of-a-kind love. He will be eternally commemorated as a special friend that persistently wanted to capture the moment with a camera or video recorder in hand. The devotion for his three children, Jay, Kimberly, and Andrew ran deep.

Jerry is preceded in death by brother, Royce Dean Lineberger, parents, Dale & Mamie Lineberger, former spouse, Joy Lynn Chandler, brother, Phil Lineberger, grandson, Jeremy Lineberger, stepson, Stephen Boccarossa, and wife, Kathy Lineberger. He is survived by siblings; Judge John Lineberger (Barbara), Ruth Cooper (Jim), Mary Lou Court (Melvin), Dr. Rick Lineberger (Tracy). Children; Jerry Dale Lineberger Jr. (Tammy), Kimberly Collins (Stephen), Andrew Lineberger. Grandchildren; Courtney Collins, Lindsay Simmons (Jeff), Kimberlyn Erie (Blake), Holley Collins, Madison Baker (Josh), Olivia Boccarossa, Austin Boccarossa, Matthew Lineberger, Aubrey Lineberger, Daniel Lineberger. Great Grandchildren; Brodie Baker, Kai Erie, Haven Simmons, Peyton Baker, Haisley Simmons, Chandler Erie.

Jerry’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with, as well as those he reached but never met. A memorial for Jerry is planned to be held during Razorback football season 2022, his favorite time of year, where many will have the opportunity to share stories of remembrance.
