Jerry's obituary

Jerron (Jerry) Franklin Calvert 71 passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family at Clermont, FL  South Lake Hospital on February 23rd, 2023 having suffered Kidney Failure. Jerry was a decorated Army and Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War and spent his years following having endured 100% Military Disabilities from his service in the conflict.


Jerry was born on June 23rd, 1951 in Savannah, Ga. to his parents William Franklin and Callie Ruth Johnson Calvert.  When he was just 18 Jerry decided he wanted to join the U. S. Army and was stationed at Hunter Army Airbase in Savannah, Ga.  Jerry would go on to serve in the Tet-Offensive  in Vietnam with some of his closest buddies.  After serving in Vietnam Jerry spent time as a Sailor with The U. S. Navy in Jacksonville, Fla.   During his time in Jacksonville/Mayport, Fla.  he met and fell for Claudette (Lynn) Burnett’s  who he soon married in 1969.  After returning again from Naval Service in Cambodia the two  chose to settle in the town of  Charlottesville, Va.  When he wasn’t working, Jerry had a passion for his wife, children and pets.  Jerry was predeceased by his son Joshua Jerry Calvert.  He is survived by his wonderful much beloved wife Ellen and daughters Melinda and Joanna Calvert.   The family requests donations  be sent to American Heart Association .  There will be a Military Salute and Eulogy held at Graveside located in Gibbs-Clifton Cemetery 14:00 on March 12, 2023.  Location is 538 George Street Hwy. 56 Uvalda, Ga.  30473!
