Jerome's obituary
Jerome David Jones Sr. peacefully left this world on April 9, 2022 to join his fiancée Shannon Berry, and parents Lula Taylor-Biscoe and Earl Jones Sr. in Heaven. He was residing in Elmira, New York, but had family in Arizona, Maryland, and many other states.
Jerome was born September 8, 1970, in Leonardtown, Maryland. He graduated from Great Mills High School in 1989, where he sang in chorus and was a top athlete in football, basketball, and track and field. After graduating from high school Jerome attended Valley Forge Christian College on a scholarship, where he played basketball. He was a talented musician, and co-founded Da’Gullah Rootz band in 2001, Charleston, SC. He had a love for cooking that had everyone raving about his food, and a heart so big you couldn’t help but feel loved. He enjoyed playing pool, listening to all genres of music, traveling, spending time at the water, cooking, and making memories with his family.
Jerome is survived by his son, Jerome Jones Jr. (Zena); daughters Takisha Kirkner (Daniel), Jasmine Valencia-Jones, Bella Valencia-Jones; grandchildren Braelynn Jones, Lydia Jones, Alena Jones, Althea Jones, Lincoln Kirkner; and nine siblings, Evangeline Chase-Carpenter, Janice Atkinson, Kevin Carroll, Keith Carroll, Kenneth Carroll, Tia Carpenter, Earl Jones Jr., Jeremiah Jones Sr., and Simona Jones-Means.
Viewings for a chance to say goodbye will be held on two days. The first viewing will be April 18, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm and if you are unable to come the first day, a second day is available on April 19, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm, at Johnson & Jenkins Funeral Home, 716 Kennedy St NW, Washington DC.
A memorial service with his ashes will take place on April 23, 2022, starting at 3pm, at Power House Apostolic Ministries, 47359 Lincoln Avenue, Lexington Park, MD.
The family is grateful for the overwhelming amount of love and support from everyone during this difficult time.
