Jeremy's obituary
Jeremy Leighton Davis Pennifill, also known as “big country” or “uncle shrek”, age 43, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in Madison, Wisconsin.
Born on April 7, 1982, in Virginia, to Robert Pennifill and Denise Crook, Jeremy had the opportunity to live in the states of Virginia, Colorado, Montana, and Alabama before moving to Wisconsin as an adult. Jeremy's presence touched the lives of many along the way to his final resting place.
Jeremy lived a life surrounded by a large, supportive family. He carried with him a lively and steadfast presence that will be missed by many.
Jeremy is survived by his father, Robert, Step-father, David Cooper, three children, Isaiah Pennifill, Urijah Pennifill, and Kimora Washington, two step-daughters, Neveah Banks and Nikayla Petty, he is further survived by his siblings, Steven Crook (Courtney), Shelby Cooper, Ashley Crook, and Elijah Crook (Cassondra Rabe), many nieces and nephews, two great nephews, cousins, and friends. Jeremy is preceded in death by his mother, Denise Cooper, and life-long friend Shurniece Petty.
He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered with love and hope for the peace he now rests in.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in accordance with the family’s wishes.
