Jeremy's obituary
In loving memory of Jeremy Scott Kalevik (age 53):
Jeremy Scott Kalevik, a cherished son, father, brother, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, partner, and friend, passed away on March 18th, leaving behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and creativity that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. He was born on May 28th, 1970, in Willmar, MN, and grew up surrounded by the love of his parents, Greg and Denise Kalevik, and his siblings, Todd, Tracy, and Benjamin, in the community of New London, Minnesota.
Jeremy held a special place in the hearts of his parents, being their firstborn. They were immensely proud of him. As the eldest child, Jeremy paved the way in life for his siblings, guiding them with love and respect, and sometimes showing them what not to do. He especially shared a close bond with his brother Todd, their relationship akin to that of twins being only 15 months apart. He was not only a brother but a best friend. He also was a quiet, yet strong protector of his younger sister and brother.
Jeremy's journey through life was marked by his unwavering devotion to his family and his passion for craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and design. After graduating from New London-Spicer High School in 1988, he pursued studies in Computer Aided Drafting at Alfred State College in New York (1989), and Mobile Communications Technology at Willmar Technical College (1991). Jeremy was a master craftsman, possessing a rare talent for building, designing, and restoration. His work was not merely a profession but a form of artistry, reflecting his meticulous attention to detail and his innate sense of beauty.
In 1997, Jeremy married Heather Gunter, with whom he shared the joy of raising their four beautiful children: Emma, Braden, Morgan, and Lydia. Despite life's challenges and though their paths eventually diverged, Jeremy remained committed to co-parenting and continued to cherish every moment spent with his children, instilling in them the values of kindness and perseverance.
Later in life, Jeremy found happiness with his best friend, Kate, and her daughter, Kam. They shared many joyful moments together, filled with laughter and love.
Jeremy enjoyed spending time outdoors with friends, whether camping, fishing, or simply enjoying nature's beauty. He was also known for his cooking talents, especially his homemade pickles and smoked meats, which he loved to share with family and friends.
Despite facing health challenges, Jeremy approached life with courage, resilience, and gratitude. He underwent a life-saving liver transplant in 2022 and was deeply thankful and overwhelmed by the support of his loved ones.
Jeremy is survived by his children Emma Kalevik, Braden (Cassie Olson) Kalevik, Morgan Kalevik, and Lydia Kalevik; his parents Greg and Denise Kalevik; his siblings Todd (Nicole) Kalevik, Tracy (Jake) Mongan, and Ben (Nicole) Kalevik; his partner Kate (and her daughter Kam)Stalboerger; his Aunt and Godmother Jean Kalevik; Aunt Renae (George) Keesbury; Uncle Leonard (Linda) Nelson; Uncle Mark (Ardis) Nelson; Aunt Virginia Carr; and Godmother Michelle Thayer. He is also survived by his nieces Kalie Jeremiason, Jenna Kalevik, Rachel Kalevik, Kayla Kalevik, and his nephews Owen Kalevik, Asher Jeremiason, Aaron Kalevik, Jonas Kalevik, Grady Mongan, and Brody Mongan, as well as his 11 younger cherished cousins, extended relatives, and a vast circle of friends whose lives he touched. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and his Uncle and Godfather Craig Nelson.
Jeremy Scott Kalevik will be remembered for his gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family and friends. Though he is gone way too soon, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rest in peace, dear Jeremy. You will be deeply missed.
