Jeremy's obituary
Jeremy “Jay” John Hennis, 44, passed away December 21, 2021 after a courageous 3 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Jay had a true zest for life, always making people laugh with jokes and silly dances. He was a friend to everyone and would do anything for his friends. He was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
The pride of his life were his two daughters, Cathryn (13) and Natylie (10). He lived his life for them and loved them dearly. He was a devoted father and loved playing sports and games with his girls and traveling with them. Family meant the world to Jay and he spent a lot of time with his parents and extended family.
He was a big cornhole bean bag player, playing in tournaments every weekend in the summer with his good friends Carl and Terry, supported by Carl’s wife Melanie. Carl and Mel were Jay’s’ best friends and were instrumental in their help during the last months and have our eternal gratitude. Their daughter, Jade, babysat for Jay’s girls over the years and Jay thought of her as an honorary daughter.
Jay was a good golfer and fan of the all Minnesota sports teams. He shared his father’s refrain that especially when it came to the Vikings, ‘there was always next year!’ He was well known for wearing shorts in all weather, even minus zero temps!
Jeremy is survived by his daughters Cathryn and Natylie, his parents Brian and Diane Hennis (Mankato, MN), brother Chad and Stacy Hennis (Palm Desert, CA) and grandmother Elaine Olson (Mankato), as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. They are all extremely grateful to Courtney for the care she provided during his illness. He is predeceased by his grandfather Reginald Olson, grandparents Arnold and Jeanette Hennis, aunt Mary Hennis.
His request was for a Celebration of Life at Hooligans bar in Mankato where everyone could have a drink and tell fun stories. Date to be announced.
All donations collected by family are being saved in an account for Jay’s daughters.
