Scott's obituary

Jeremy "Scott" Green, 50 of Thornton, CO, passed away peacefully from a brief and sudden illness on November, 14th, 2023, with his partner of 18 wonderful years, Gretchen Olsen, by his side.  He will be missed and was taken from us too soon.  His bright smile, sense of humor and ability to lighten any situation with a joke, even if a bit off-color or inappropriate, always made his many friends, family, and coworkers' day better.

Scott was born in Toledo, Ohio to a military family.  The family moved to Jacksonville, NC where he spent most of his childhood with his mother, Nancy Jean Wimoth Green, father Windle Ray Green and younger sister, Amy Green.

Scott loved "Adventures" and it didn't really matter where: international destinations, around the US, the beaches of North Carolina or just around our local town.  Exploring the beautiful places of Colorado included attending fun festivals, new restaurants and usually ending up in the local bar or brewery.  He always approached these adventures with a sense of opportunity to explore and experience something new, even if they were completely over-planned by Gretchen.  They traveled to Italy in September, experiencing a long-time dream vacation.  They enjoyed the food, wine, history, architecture and Scott even managed to charm a local elderly vineyard owner for a private wine tasting while Gretchen and the rest of the group toured the grounds.  He always knew when to use his charm and flash that Scott smile and dimple.

He had a special relationship with his sister, Amy, who will always refer to him as her "BIG" bro.  Amy cherished his many stories and his ability to help her see a different side of a situation, while always providing valued advice regarding work and life.  She will miss the phone calls, numerous stories, loud belly laugh, sarcastic sense of humor, quick wit, joy of entertaining, bartending and whiskey.  Scott had an ability to strike up conversations with anyone, and had a way to cut-up with the best of them.

Gretchen has a special message for Scott:  I will miss you every day, especially the way you hugged me completely.  The way you make me laugh, even at myself, and teased me for overthinking.  Our days of sitting around doing nothing, or watching football, you even converted me to a Georgia Bulldog fan.  Our game nights, happy hours on the deck, your southern cooking, our Thanksgiving dinners big enough for an army.  I will especially miss how you totally loved and always took care of me.  As I try to move forward, continuing our many traditions, celebrating you and the love you brought to my life, I will never forget you, your smile and your laughter.  While we didn't get the chance to carry out all of our planned adventures, I am eternally grateful for the ones that we had together.

Scott is survived by his life partner, Gretchen Olsen, supportive sister, Amy Green (Jared Steele), stepfather Roger Williams, stepsister, Jenny  Edwards (Perry Edwards), niece, Peyton Edwards, many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers.  He was preceded in death by his mom, Nancy Jean Wilmoth Green and dad, Windle Ray Green.

This space is a tribute to Scott and his life. It is a place to share memories, stories, and photos of him. We invite you to contribute to this memorial and help keep his memory alive.
