Jeremy aka Jeremie's obituary
It is with deep respect that we announce the passing of Jeremy (aka Jeremie) Michael Garza on November 11, 2025.
Jeremie will be remembered with honor and affection by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives were changed by his presence, often in moments of crisis, vulnerability, or need.
He is preceded in death by his younger siblings, Travis and Jerron; his cousin Triffany; his grandmothers Jayme Garza and Judy Colvin; and his grandfathers Ray Garza and Jack Colvin.
He is survived by his mother, Vicky, and stepfather Frank; his father, Chuck, and stepmother Fab; his brothers Jake and Austin; his sister Alyssa; and many extended family members who loved him deeply.
From a young age, Jeremie showed focus and determination. As a child, he raced in the senior novice category with the Rocky Mountain Quarter Midget Association, proudly driving car #78. That early discipline and intensity would later show up in very different ways, shaped by care, patience, and attention rather than speed.
Jeremie devoted much of his adult life to caring for people who are often unseen or underserved. His work in suicide prevention, crisis response, harm reduction, HIV services, and homelessness support spanned many years and roles, including overnight hotline management, clinical assistance, volunteer training, and case management. He worked long hours, often overnight, helping others through moments of fear, isolation, and instability. He was known for building trust with people who struggled to engage elsewhere, and for showing up consistently when it mattered most.
This work reflected who Jeremie was at his core: steady, observant, and willing to remain present in difficult circumstances. He believed in dignity, inclusion, and meeting people where they were.
Outside of his professional life, Jeremie was curious, creative, and quietly adventurous. He was an avid fisherman who valued the patience and attentiveness the practice required. He delighted in tiny and unusual foods, approaching eating with playfulness and curiosity, whether that meant seeking out obscure delicacies or happily sampling chocolate-covered grasshoppers. These interests were expressions of the same attentiveness he brought to everything he cared about.
Jeremie was also an extremely talented artist. His creativity showed up across mediums and projects, often intertwined with his interest in public motivational art and creative upcycling. His art was thoughtful, expressive, and deeply personal, reflecting how carefully he observed the world around him.
He had a genuine and enduring love for pigeons, an affection that spoke to his care for overlooked and misunderstood creatures. In keeping with that love, the family requests that donations in his memory be made to the Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Rescue.
Jeremie leaves behind many beautiful friendships, including people who loved him from the moment they met him and remained close throughout his life. These relationships mattered deeply to him and were a steady source of connection and meaning.
Those who wish to pay tribute are invited to share memories and condolences on this memorial page.
