Jennifer's obituary

FORT WORTH – Jennifer Winter Zachary went home to Jesus on December 16, 2025 at age 73.

ARRANGEMENTS: Jennifer arranged for her body to be donated for the education of future physicians and scientists. (Update from original post): A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday January 17, 2026 at Hulen Street Church, 7100 S Hulen Street, Fort Worth Texas 76133.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, her memory may be honored with a donation to Hulen Street Church.

Jennifer was born on March 17, 1952, to Doris June Padgett Winter and Irwin Thomas Winter in Waco, Texas. After graduating from Pampa High School in 1970, she went on to receive her B.S. Ed in Political Science and Biology from North Texas State (UNT) in 1973. Jennifer met her husband Danny in 1975 and they were married August 10, 1977. They had one son, Cole, in 1984. Danny and Jennifer have been active members of Hulen Street Church for 38 years.

In addition to being a dedicated deacon’s wife and mother, Jennifer was a life-long learner and shared her passion of teaching to countless students of all ages. She taught her son along with others his age in a homeschool co-op program. Then she went on to teach at Grace Preparatory Academy for 15 years, teaching Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Forensic Science. After retirement, she worked for 8 years as an instructor of adults earning their GEDs. One of her greatest joys in life was the precious time she would spend with her only granddaughter Holly where Jennifer’s lessons involved at-home science experiments, card and board games, classic movies, golfing, and even Holly’s first time at the gun range.

The only thing stronger than her love for family and service to those she taught was her faith in her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. She was active in church children’s ministries, prayer groups, and small group Bible study. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

SURVIVORS: Husband Danny Zachary; son Cole Zachary and wife, Stacy; granddaughter Holly Zachary; sister Rebecca Plunk and husband, Dorsey; nephew Joshua Plunk, and wife Jennifer; nephew Marshall Plunk and wife, Kristi; 4 great-nephews and 1 great-niece.
