Jenny's obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Jennifer "Jenny" Petersen on September 19, 2024, born April 9, 1964. A woman best known for her loving, caring, funny, and generous spirit, Jenny enriched the lives of all those who had the privilege to know her.

Jenny was born on April 9, 1964 in Fort Branch, Indiana. Her family later moved to Collinsville, Illinois. When she was a teenager her family moved to Sprinfield, Illinois where she lived out the rest of her life.

Jenny is survived by her devoted husband, Steven Petersen; her proud father, Larry Hanold; and her loving mother, Phyllis Hanold. Jenny's legacy is carried on through her children: Sarah Goodner, Sabrina Graff, Stefani Petersen, and Dylan Petersen. She also leaves behind her brother, Jeff Hanold and his wife, Linda Hanold. Jenny cherished her sons-in-law, Nathan Goodner and Aaron Graff, as if they were her own sons.

One of Jenny's most significant accomplishments and points of pride was being a mother and grandmother. Her love for her nine grandchildren - Isiah, Nora, Colton, Noah, MacKenley, Lucas, Harrison, Vivian, and Gabriel - was immeasurable and an intrinsic part of who she was. Their lives were undeniably enriched by her affection and guidance.

Jenny was a woman who found joy in the simple things in life. She had a fondness for the color purple and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her laughter and generous spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who loved her.
A Celebration of life for Jenny will be held on November 3, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Grandview Municipal building. We invite all who knew and loved Jenny to join us in honoring her life and legacy.

In remembrance of Jenny, we encourage you to hold your loved ones a little closer, laugh a little louder, and live each day with a bit of Jenny's undeniable spirit.
