I started working at the law school shortly before she graduated, but she was so kind and welcoming anyway.  She remembered my name right away (rare because I took over for a beloved retiree in the position for 27 years) and acknowledged me as me, and not the previous person's replacement.  Her presence was like a ray of sunshine and she truly made a difference in all she did.  May you feel peace and comfort through your memories.
My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.  May God grant you strength to get through this and peace to know that Jenn is no longer suffering.  I am so sorry that I will not be able to attend her celebration of life but please know that I am there in spirit.  All my love to your entire family, Debbie Pereira-Young
We simply don't have the words to express our deepest sense of grief for you and your family. We hope this poem shares just how much we believe that Jenn's life so positively impacted all around her in both small and massive ways. All our love. xx

When great trees fall,

rocks on distant hills shudder,

lions hunker down

in tall grasses,

and even elephants

lumber after safety.

When great trees fall

in forests,

small things recoil into silence,

their senses

eroded beyond fear.

When great souls die,

the air around us becomes

light, rare, sterile.

We breathe, briefly.
Our eyes, briefly,

see with

a hurtful clarity.

Our memory, suddenly sharpened,

examines,

gnaws on kind words

unsaid,

promised walks

never taken.

Great souls die and

our reality, bound to

them, takes leave of us.

Our souls,

dependent upon their

nurture,

now shrink, wizened.

Our minds, formed

and informed by their

radiance,
fall away.

We are not so much maddened

as reduced to the unutterable ignorance
of
dark, cold

caves.

And when great souls die,

after a period peace blooms,

slowly and always

irregularly. Spaces fill

with a kind of

soothing electric vibration.

Our senses, restored, never

to be the same, whisper to us.

They existed. They existed.

We can be. Be and be

better. For they existed.
