Jennifer (Spencer) Murphy, 72, of Cherry Valley, IL passed away peacefully on December 18, 2022, after having aggressively battled cancer,  unfortunately, shortly after retiring at the age of 70.

Jenny grew up in Fergus Falls, MN and relocated to Cherry Valley in the late 60s. She was a homemaker when her children were young and a water treatment operator in the area for many years.  Her latest position with the Kish-Rock Water Pollution Operators was as Executive Secretary. She enjoyed caring for her home and property, especially gardening.  Daisies were her favorite flower. She loved to collect anything with cherries on it, being a valley resident almost her entire life. She enjoyed outdoor activities such as kayaking and her pool.

Jenny will be dearly missed and always remembered. She was predeceased first by Richard Spencer (brother), James Spencer (father) and then Roberta Pittman (sister). She is survived by Helen Spencer (mother), Patricia Torp (sister), Cheryl Pankoff (sister), Brenda (Kim) Windt, Kimberli (DJ) Williams (daughter), Brian Murphy (son), Taylor Bozman (granddaughter), Kelli Bozman (granddaughter), and several nieces and nephews and their children, along with her dog Smurf who knew her as grandma.

Jenny requested a celebration of life be held in her honor. We request all of Jenny’s family and friends to join us in celebrating her beautiful life with a service at Cherry Valley United Methodist Church on January 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
