Miss Jennifer crossed my mind today and after a Google search I unfortunately came across this obituary.

It’s been almost 9 years since I saw her and although our time together was brief, 38 days to be exact. She left an impact on my life that can never be repaid. Today, I wanted to get info on to how I could reach out to her.

Miss Jennifer was my social worker at the City of Alexandria detox program. She had this presence about her that I knew I couldn’t fool her and she wasn’t messing around but most of all she actually cared. I was 25 years old and had made a mess of my life. She took her time with me and gave me hope. From then on I have stayed the course and it started in her little office in Alexandria.

A lot has happened in almost 9 years but I have stayed clean through it all. Moved across the country and work in the same field, helping the same people Miss Jennifer did.

I may not get to physically let her know the impact she had on my life, I guess the best way is to continue the good work and let that do the talking.

My condolences to the family. May her memory be eternal and know that her spirit lives on through the countless individuals she helped.
