Jennifer's obituary
Jennifer Ann DeAlteris, 46, of Dartmouth, Massachusetts, left this earth on 28 August 2023, after suffering a ruptured brain aneurysm. Jennifer was a loving mother, beloved daughter, sister and friend to many. She was an enthusiastic participant of life and loved adventure, traveling across country, internationally and most recently to Alaska with her family. She had an incredibly creative spirit and shared her love of cooking, sewing, gardening, writing and crafting with her children. Among her favorite activities were the daily dogs walks along local trails with her treasured companion, Jada.
She was born in Newport News, VA, graduated from North Kingstown High School, Rhode Island, received a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology at the University of Rhode Island, and completed two advanced degrees including a Master of Science in Chemical Oceanography at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, College of William and Mary, and a Master of Business Administration at University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. She lived her values and actively supported the environmental and social justice causes dear to her heart. She was most recently employed as a Senior Grant Manager at the Harvard School of Health where she worked closely with faculty to obtain funding to advance public health. Jennifer’s colleagues at Harvard describe her as “as a beacon of light; her friendly personality, optimism, positivity, and strong work ethic were unwavering.”
Jennifer is survived by her children Elizabeth and Charlie, her parents Judith DeAlteris and Joseph DeAlteris, her sister, Jessica (George) Shaffer as well as her niece and nephew Julia and Aidan. A private Memorial Service in celebration of her life will be held on 14 October 2023.
