Beloved partner, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to many completed his journey on to heaven on August 23, 2020 due to complications from Covid-19. He fought a very hard battle thru to the end but he knew it was time to go back home.
The son of Jeffrey Simons and Karen Skeens (Fluary) was born on June 25, 1970 in Detroit, Michigan. Jeffrey was baptized at Faith Community Church and attended St. Laurence Catholic School for his younger schooling and went on to graduate from Grosse Pointe North in 1988.
Jeffrey has always been very proud of his Irish heritage, enjoyed tracking back thru his family history, and always had aspirations of moving to Ireland one day. He was an avid sports fan, particularly college football. Georgia Tech has always been his favorite team. Jeff had a deep love of nature, he had a ‘green thumb’. He enjoyed spending time outside tending to his flowers, plants, and trees. Jeffrey also loved spending time by the water and all beaches, especially the beaches of Florida. He also had a great love for all exotic birds. He had a great passion for all holidays. He went all out with decorations, food, and great celebrations.
Jeff’s greatest passion was flying. He was a flight attendant for over 20 years. During his career, he worked for Northwest Airlines, Air Tran, and ended his career with Southwest Airlines. He loved flying and the opportunity to travel all over the world. It was during this time that he developed a fondness for Finland. During his free time, he took multiple trips there.
He met his partner 7 years ago in Las Vegas. As their relationship grew, they made the decision to make their home in Las Vegas, Nevada. They have been together ever since.
Jeffrey is preceeded in death by his father, grandparents, 2 nieces, and a nephew. He is survived by his partner, mother Karen Skeens (Fluary) and father Clay Skeens; Siblings Carol Cornelison (Joe), Sandy Simons (Marvin), Kevin Simons (Amber), Kelly Williams (Chris), Erinn Simons, and Brian Skeens; 16 nieces and nephews and 10.5 great nieces and nephews; Aunts, uncles, and cousins.
