Jeffrey's obituary

Jeffrey Gaw Hwang, 65, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Jeffrey was born on June 2, 1959 in the Philippines as the eldest child of Richard Hwang and Gaw Eng. He pursued higher education at De La Salle University, where he earned a degree in marketing and management. He later switched careers to nursing and moved to the United States.

Jeffrey’s professional journey was defined by ambition and resilience. He worked tirelessly to support his family, often embracing long commutes and job changes in pursuit of better opportunities. He ended his career as a psychiatric nurse at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, where he loved his coworkers in his unit. In 2021, he took on a position as a clinical instructor at the University of San Francisco—a position that brought him great pride. His passion for teaching left a lasting impression on his students; notably, one of them was present at the time of his passing.

Family was central to Jeffrey’s life. He is remembered with love by his wife Joseline; daughter Jennifer; granddaughter Julia; son-in-law Jordan; brothers Dennis and Gerald; and sister Debbie. He was predeceased by his parents, Eng Gaw and Richard Hwang.

In his spare time, Jeffrey found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved savoring delicious meals, visiting his daughter in San Francisco, and had a fondness for watching Chinese movies and travel vlogs on YouTube. He also loved shopping at Costco and traveling - his last trip was in November 2025 to Sapporo with his brother Dennis and his sister Debbie.

He will be deeply missed.
