Jeffrey's obituary

Jeffrey Christopher Golumski passed away quietly in the comfort of his home, surrounded by members of his family on August 8, 2023. Jeff was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer that had metastasized in early June of this year. He chose to spend the rest of his time at home with the aid of his family and the Aurora Hospice Medical Staff. He was welcomed to eternal life by our Lord, just two months after his diagnosis.

Jeff was born in St. Francis (Town Of Lakes) on June 19, 1950, the oldest of two sons (Gary) to Richard and Audrey Golumski. He graduated from South Milwaukee High School, in June of 1969. Jeff met his future wife, Barbara Weill when she was 14 and he was 16 years old. They would marry September 12th, 1970 remaining together to this day. In good times, and bad. In sickness and in health, they have a marriage filled with 53 years of love, loyalty, and laughter.

In 1973, they welcomed their first child and son Daniel Golumski, in November of 1973. In July of 1977 they welcomed their daughter, Carrieanne Golumski into the world. They would remain in Cudahy, Wisconsin until after Both children had graduated High school. They moved to South Milwaukee, Wisconsin where they spent the next 23 years helping to raise their three grandchildren.

J.C. was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union and worked at Modern Machine Co. for over 25 years. Jeff was quite the lover of music, growing up in the 60’s. He was a drummer in a rock band called “The Rectors” in his later teens. He developed a love for science, nature and all things outdoors, as well. He was an avid fisherman and hunter for decades to come. The place he most enjoyed was that of his best friend Walter “Butch” Dahlke and his wife Linda’s home in Price County, Wisconsin. “The Shooter” also loved his firearms. He participated in Bullseye, Trap and Skeet leagues for years. He was a master reloader, developing his own ammunition and collecting some very fine firearms along the way. He was a loyal member of the National Rifle Association for over 30 years as well.

Jeff’s love of Science also led him to become a self taught lover of botany. His yard work was the envy of his neighborhoods in both Cudahy and South Milwaukee. Jeff also made the conscious decision to choose sobriety on January 27th, 1993. He would proudly remain sober the rest of his life. His love for photography also began in the late 1990’s, as he documented the growth of his grandchildren and the lives of his family and friends. It was a rare occurrence to see him without his Canon camera equipment. He soon became an expert in still life photography, sports photography and portraits. Some people say a picture is worth 1000 words, and Jeff wrote several novels in his time.

Jeffrey put moments before materials, and his family always came first. He was very proud of his family, which included more than his blood. His “family” extended far beyond relatives. J.C. had enough love to touch everyone he had ever encountered, but his greatest joy became his three Grandchildren Ja’Ziah, Avarielle and Aidan.

The life God chose for Jeff was not always easy. Injuries from factory life and a previous battle with Colon Cancer in 2014, forced him from some of the activities that he loved too soon, but he was an ever-evolving gentleman, and his disabilities did not stop him from being a man of great faith, hope and love. He was truly selfless and his love spread beyond his physical being.

For anyone who had known Jeffrey Golumski, Knew love. He was always willing to share a piece of his beautiful soul. He believed in second and even third chances. He believed in the greater good of humanity. Jeffrey was an unforgettable husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Golumski (Weill); his children Daniel Golumski and Carrieanne Golumski; his “Still My Daughter-in Law”, Amy Steinhaus; his grandsons Ja’Ziah Hubbert (Lilly) and Aidan Golumski; his granddaughter Avarielle Bryant (Victoria); His Brother-in-Law Brain Weill (Donna) sister in law and his doggy-grandbabies Tina, Nova, Buddy and Gracie, along with all his extended family and friends who meant the world to him. He will forever be missed as we rejoice with all the beautiful memories this man has given each and everyone of us.

There will be a celebration of life for Jeffrey on Saturday, August 26th from 12pm to 2pm at Sunset Options Funeral & Cremations, 904 E. Rawson Ave, Oak Creek, WI 53154.
