Jeffery's obituary
Jeffery Scott Marshall, age 68, passed away on April 20, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with coronary artery disease and diabetes. He was born on October 21, 1957, to John Marshall and Faye Darlene (Gates) Marshall.
Jeff was a devoted husband to his wife, Caren Carpenter Marshall, and a proud father to his two daughters, Stephanie Marshall of Las Vegas and Natasha Marshall of Blackfoot, Idaho.
An adventurer at heart, Jeff grew up in St. George, where he spent much of his time on his family’s cattle ranch. He had a deep love for horses and became an accomplished team roper. His passion for excitement and service led him to begin his career as a deputy sheriff in Washington County, Utah. He especially valued his time in search and rescue, where he took part in daring rescues, including rappelling from helicopters.
While Jeff found purpose in law enforcement, his true calling was in the funeral industry, where he spent the remainder of his career. He believed deeply in serving others during their most difficult moments and often said he was able to help people more in death than he ever could in law enforcement. Jeff dedicated himself to supporting families with compassion and care, primarily serving as a funeral attendant and assisting with services.
Jeff also had a great love for the outdoors. He found peace and joy in camping, fishing, and hunting, and treasured the time he spent in nature.
He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his dedication to helping others, and the quiet strength and compassion he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jeff is survived by his wife and daughters; his stepson, Michael Carpenter of Washington; his beloved dog, Red; and his brother, Brad Marshall.
