Jeffrey's obituary

Jeffery James Boots, age 65, of Palatine, Illinois, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on March 26, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois, Jeff was the beloved son of Ronald and Barbara Boots and the cherished brother of Norman and David. He was a proud uncle, great-uncle, and friend to many. His presence brought warmth, kindness, and laughter to all who knew him.

Jeff built his career as a skilled electrician, but his passions extended far beyond his profession. A true hobbyist and collector, he was endlessly curious and possessed a mind that seemed to know something about everything. He was an avid motorcycle rider and a world traveler, always embracing adventure and new experiences wherever they could be found.

A man of faith, Jeff was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church and actively participated in the life of his congregation. His belief in service, compassion, and community guided the way he lived and shaped the generosity he extended to others.

Jeff touched countless lives with his intelligence, generosity, and willingness to help. Whether lending his expertise, offering a kind word, or dropping everything to support his nieces, family, and friends, he gave of himself freely and without hesitation. His smile could light up a room, his thoughtfulness knew no bounds, and his genuine spirit left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. In his final act of giving, Jeff donated his eyes to science and retina research—continuing to help others even after his passing.

He is survived by his father, Ronald Boots; mother, Barbara Boots; brothers, Norman Boots and David Boots; sister-in-law, Anita Boots; niece, Lisa (Alex) Diaz, and their son, great-nephew Luca Diaz; and niece, Amy (Hector) Chavez. He will be remembered always with love, respect, and gratitude.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on Friday, August 22, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 N. Hicks Road, Palatine, Illinois. The family invites loved ones to join for Sharing of Stories at 9:00 AM and the Church Service at 11:00 AM.

Jeff’s life was a testament to faith, kindness, curiosity, and selflessness. He will be deeply missed, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
