Jeff's obituary

John Jeffrey (Jeff) Williams peacefully left this Earth on the 16th day of May 2020. After a courageous thirteen-year battle with kidney cancer, he continues to fight against this horrible disease by donating his remains to medical research at UT Southwestern. Jeff will be deeply missed by the love of his life Rosaline (Rozzie) Williams, who dedicated her life to his for 40 years. They have two children, Jeremy Williams and Kyndl Tompkins; who is expecting Jeff’s first grandchild with her husband Chase Tompkins. He is remembered as being the most devoted husband and the proudest father, who beamed with pride at any chance to speak of his family.

Born in Port Lavaca, Texas in 1963; he spent his time saltwater fishing, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his siblings Cindi, Chuck, Kenny, and Laurie. Throughout his childhood he and his family were world travelers having lived at the Canary Islands, Malta, Iran, Holland, and England before finally returning home to the Lone Star State. In 1999 the Williams family moved to Tyler where Jeff assisted in the opening of Traditions Restaurant with his brother-in-law Robert Owens Jr. In 2016, with the help of his son, he fulfilled a dream of opening his own restaurant and became the managing partner of Aspen Creek Grill in Tyler. Those who had the honor of working alongside Jeff recall him as more than a boss, but as a mentor and a life-long friend. When he spoke to people you could see his heart shine and that his smile and hospitality were genuine. If you met Jeff at one of these stores you would never forget him, and he would certainly never forget you.

Outside the restaurant, Jeff could fix any car or motorcycle, repair any household issues, and knew every Celine Dion song by heart. Whether on the back of a Harley or in his pick-up truck Jeff loved to go for rides. It didn’t matter if it was through the East Texas Pines or up a Colorado mountaintop – if you wished to go, he’d ask when. His vibrant personality and big belly laugh were often best showcased as he pulled family and friends behind his boat on hot, summer days. He enjoyed the fresh air and time together, but more importantly the giant grin that it put on everyone else’s face. Even in his final moments, he was always selfless and constantly thinking of others.

Thank you, Jeff, for the sweet memories that fill our hearts and the impact you have made on our lives.
