Jeanne's obituary
Jeanne was born March 20, 1925, in the family home at 2836 Myrtle Avenue, NE, Washington, DC, the daughter of late Eleanor Brauer Hyatt and Freemont Howard Hyatt. She was the older sister to Audrey Hyatt Sazma & Sister to half sisters Carolyn, Elaine, & Thalia, and half-brother to Gordon.
She served in the U.S. Dept. of the Treasury in the accounting division in the early 1940s.
She married George Fredrick Sloan, III in Washington D.C. After her marriage to George, she retired from the US Treasury to become a full time mother of two sons; Randolph Cushing Sloan, born in 1953 and Daniel Carroll Sloan, born in 1960.
After George’s passing in 1985, she had her own home built in Palm Coast Florida, where she lived for many years and was an active volunteer with the Audubon Society, Friends of the Library of Flagler Co., & the Republican Women’s Club.
She attended Daytona State College in Palm Coast Florida where she studied liberal arts and earned an associate degree, earlier she had received training as a commercial artist.
She is survived by her sister, Audrey Sazama, of Ocean View, DE; her sister; Elaine Bungay, her younger son & daughter-in-law, Daniel & Donnamarie Sloan, of Delray Beach, FL.; daughter-in-law Sue Sloan, granddaughter Victoria Sloan, and great-granddaughter Nova Sloan of Concord, NC.
Jeanne Sloan was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Sloan, III in 1985 ; and her older son, Randolph Sloan in 2012.
A service will be held & burial will take place on July 8, 2021 at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Ave., Silver Springs, MD.
