Jeanne's obituary
Jeanne Fay (Frankenfield) Shirk, 86, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Monday, October 16, 2023. She was Born July 14, 1937 in Erwinna, PA and lived most of her life in Florida with her beloved husband and soulmate of 50+ years, John F. Shirk who passed on October 16, 2017.
Jeanne lived a full life, she was a huge fan of the Florida Rays, the New York Giants, and an annual participant in the famous John Shirk Football Pool. Jeanne never missed Jeopardy and was a fan of several late-night TV hosts. Her healthy curiosity about the world and her community kept her watching the news and reading the newspaper so she could discuss local, national and world events with everyone.
Jeanne was a spectacular baker and famous for her Florida key lime pie. She was well known for her amazing “green thumb” and ability to bring any plant back to life. She and John always made time to help others, including putting on puppet shows for children and volunteering at Our Daily Bread. Jeanne was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed knitting hats for cancer patients.
Jeanne will be remembered by family and friends for her easy-going disposition, sense of humor, love of dogs, margaritas, crush on Obama and passion for politics.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Olive Strauss, Pearl Tange, Ida Mae Suphin, Esther Carver, Pauline Serfass, Jane Gordon and her brother, Chester Frankenfield.
Jeanne’s life was a blessing to all who knew her and memories of her will be their treasure.
