Jeannie's obituary
Jeanne “Jeannie” Allyson Rouse, 76, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away on April 15, 2026.
Born in Raleigh, North Carolina on January 24, 1950 to Durwood E. and Anne Fields Rouse, Jeannie spent most of her life in Greensboro, a place she proudly called home.
Jeannie built her career in the insurance industry, one of the first three female insurances agents in North Carolina. She worked as a claims adjuster then claims investigator. She approached her work with integrity, accuracy and professionalism.
She had a deep appreciation for music, cinema, and art, and enjoyed anything from Barbra Streisand. She loved Diana Gabaldon’s “Outlander” books and TV series and famous female artist, Georgia O’Keefe. She enjoyed savoring delicious food and the adventure of experiencing new restaurants and various cuisines.
Over the years she also enjoyed traveling, golfing, and sailing--and at one point, even owned a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a reflection of her best personality trait, which was to be uniquely and exactly who she was.
More than anything, Jeannie will be remembered for her fun and generous spirit. She had a natural ability to make people smile, a quick wit, and a sense of humor that could brighten any room. She was truly one of a kind and deeply loved by those who knew her.
Jeannie is survived by her sister, Janet, as well as her 3 nieces, 2 nephews, and 5 great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her cherished pets: Sophie, her dog and Jessie and Peti, her cats--who were constant companions and brought her great comfort and happiness.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents and older sister, JoAnne.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Love Ruff Rescue (Thomasville, NC) or that those who knew Jeannie honor her memory by enjoying a delicious meal with friends and family, listening to an eclectic variety of music, watching a good movie, or spending time with a sweet cat or dog!
Jeannie’s warmth, humor, and unique spirit will be deeply missed and fondly remembered always.
