February 6, 1988! It just may have been the most memorable day of my teaching career at Grass Valley Elementary. Jeanne had always said she would not still be living in Winnemucca by the time she turned 40. Well, she was wrong and her friends wanted to rub it in.  Jeanne woke up to 40 black crosses in her front yard. That was just the beginning. To protect the "innocent parties", no names shall be mentioned. As she ventured out to school on Grass Valley Road, there were mysterious messages spray painted all the way to the school entrance. "MORITZ IS 40"  "MIF WEEK"  "40" "40" 40", etc.  Yes, the events lasted all week culminating with a flyover dropping leaflets onto the playground at recess so all the kids could join in the celebration. As I said, NO NAMES will be mentioned and __________ will DENY DENY DENY any involvement whatsoever. The day turned more dramatic as it went on, but those details are left to memories. Needless to say, we gathered that evening to end the week-long celebration, but those stories will last forever.  Long gone are the days of good clean fun like we used to have. I'm so glad we had such a great friend to celebrate with! We miss you dear Jeanne! Keep smiling upon us!

This will always be a day we remember that Jeanne took a walk with Jesus. We love her and will miss her forever.

Our world will be without our bright ray of sunshine, but that ray of sunshine will be beaming from up above. Jeanne has left a legacy of "doing for others", which we all must follow. She has impacted so many lives in a positive way. Let's all vow to do the same. She will be forever in our hearts.
