Jeanne's obituary
Jeanne Marie Spiceland (Sutterfield)
2/27/1953-11/3/2024
Jeanne Marie Spiceland (71) passed away suddenly at her home in Boone, North Carolina on November 3rd, 2024. She is survived by her husband, David Spiceland; siblings, Sharon Sutterfield and Alan Sutterfield (Jane Sutterfield); children, Benjamin Wojtas (Lei Maxwell-Wojtas) and Sarah Wojtas; stepchildren, Josh Spiceland and Rachel McAuley (Michael McAuley); and grandchild, Clementine Cain. She is preceded in passing by her parents, Selwyn and Helen Sutterfield.
Jeanne had many passions in life: Michigan Football, sewing/knitting, crafting, all animals (special love for Yorkies, Una and Prudence), Henry Ford Museum, history, and most of all, her family.
She was raised in Dearborn, Michigan, attending Dearborn High School. After high school, Jeanne pursued a career in nursing, maintaining this professional and personal appreciation of caring for others until the day she passed. She gained many friendships throughout life, both those from her younger years and others she acquired through her professional work. One of her greatest joys in life was being a Mother and Grandmother. She poured her heart into home-made ornaments, costumes, and celebration cakes for her children and granddaughter, attending zoos and parks frequently with Clementine in her later years.
Jeanne was no stranger to adventure, as she travelled in her youth, as well as made memorable trips to Seattle and DC, and attending hockey and football games. She was of strong spirit, incredibly loving, thoughtful, dedicated, and selfless. Jeanne will be greatly missed and shall remain in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Life is planned for October 29th, 2025 at The Historic Chelsea Depot at 125 Jackson Street, Chelsea, MI 48118 from 5-8pm. Following the Celebration of Life, there will be light refreshments and fellowship while sharing memories and stories of the impact Jeanne made in our lives. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to or adopting from your local animal shelter.
