Jeanne's obituary
Jeanne passed away peacefully in Seal Beach, CA surrounded by family, love and treasured memories. She was married to her devoted husband, Donald J Lomont, for 55 wonderful years.
Jeanne grew up in Virginia, MN and attended Washington School. She then graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth with a BA in Education. After college she moved with friends to Huntington Beach, CA in 1966 where she taught at Ocean View Elementary. In 1967, she met Don in Newport Beach and their love story blossomed from there. They were married in Virginia, MN on March 29, 1969. Soon after Don and Jeanne set down roots in Seal Beach where they raised their two children and developed lifelong friendships. Jeanne had a special place in her heart for her close friends and family in Minnesota. Many summers she visited with her family and reconnected, spending time by the lake.
Jeanne was a gentle, generous and selfless soul who found immense joy in giving to others. Jeanne was a member of the St. Annes Church Women’s Guild in Seal Beach. She was an avid reader and member of a cherished book club. She proudly volunteered at Assistance League of Long Beach. She connected with people intuitively and lovingly. Know that if she could, she would be reaching out to each of you with a big smile and want to hear everything about you and your family. Jeanne, lovingly known as Nonna, was probably most happy doting on the grandkids.
Sadly, their son, Ashley Justin Lomont passed away last year (August 24, 2024). Jeanne’s dementia was far enough along that she was spared the pain of losing him. Jeanne is survived by her husband Don, their daughter Amanda Lomont Mellen, grandchildren Thomas Mellen (13) and Brandon Mellen (9), Leo Lomont (8), London Lomont (5), along with Amanda’s husband Doug Mellen and Ash’s wife Lida Lomont.
Preceded in death were Jeanne’s father, John Angelo and her mother Helen (Bonicatto) Angelo and her two siblings, John Angelo Jr and Nancy (Angelo) Ludwig.
Don would like to thank each of you for the encouragement, the prayers, the comfort and the love that you have given throughout these difficult months. It is more appreciated than you can imagine. A celebration of life for Jeanne will be held in Seal Beach sometime in the coming months. More details to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeanne’s memory are appreciated to either the Alzheimers Orange County https://www.alzoc.org/get-inv… the Alzheimer’s Association https://alzfdn.org/donate/
