Jeanne's obituary
Jeanne Ellen Dunlap, 76, passed away on May 1st, 2024 in her home surrounded by family and close friends in Port Aransas, TX. She was born on December 6th, 1947, in Uvalde, Texas to Ray and Floy Buttler.
She is survived by her sister Pat Savis, her children Tracy Perelli and Michael Hobert, her grandchildren Wesley Perelli (Taylor Jones), Christine Cecil (Scott Cecil), Katie Perelli, & Maria Hobert, her two great-grandchildren Teagan Perelli & James Cecil, her nieces and nephew, Becky, Donna and Paul, and many great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Ray C Buttler & Floy C Buttler, her sister Martha Merritt, and nephew Gary Merritt.
Jeanne accomplished many great things in her lifetime. She worked at Kelly AirForce Base for 25+ years, after retirement she began her next journey working at a florist shop where she could enjoy something she was passionate about, working with flowers and plants. A big part of that next journey included many special friendships that have lasted throughout the years! Jeanne had a fantastic green thumb; we will always remember all of the plants she rescued and nurtured back to life. She did not only have that effect on plants, she was a kind and caring person who wanted the people around her to thrive. Stray animals always knew exactly where to go if they were looking for a loving and caring human to take care of them. Her Shih Tzu’s Kassie and Charlie, were a huge part of her life. Charlie was by her side until the very end while Kassie was waiting for her in Heaven. Her love for the beach was definitely passed to her grandchildren. She loved hiking and being outdoors. Many of her wonderful stories included being outside and traveling the world. She is the main reason for many of her family’s current passions: the beach, the stars, being outdoors, and spending quality time together.
Jeanne will continue to give as her last wish was to donate her body to science with the hope that if she could help just one person, it was worth it. Her family will host a Celebration of Life in San Antonio, TX.

Jeanne lit up a room, there wasn’t a person that didn’t fall in love with “Jeannie” ie Jeanne. She was smart, caring and tough when she needed to be. Her love of life made us all better people. Our family wants to thank everyone who has supported us on this tough journey, with special thanks to Debra and Brenda for their exceptional support. Thank you all again for the love and support throughout this difficult transition of learning to live without Jeanne’s positive and uplifting presence.
