Jeanette Louise Schmidt, age 88, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2022 in Bolivar, Missouri.  She was born June 2, 1934, in Seymore, Wisconsin, to Ralph and Charlotte (Temple) Herning.   Jeanette graduated high school in 1952 and moved to Appleton, Wisconsin where she worked in a knitting mill and then as a telephone operator.  During this time, she met and married Harvey Schmidt of Bonduel, Wisconsin.  Jeanette went on to work as a bookkeeper at Acme Press in Appleton, Wisconsin, moving up to the position of purchasing agent for the company.  The couple moved to Iola, Wisconsin, where Jeanette worked for many years as a purchasing agent and buyer for the hobby and magazine publisher Krause Publications.  After retiring in the 1990's, Jeanette and Harvey moved to Bolivar, Missouri to be closer to her two brothers.  Jeanette was an expert quilter.  She showed and sold hundreds of quilts, gifting many beautiful pieces to various family members over the years.  In retirement, Jeanette quilted and sewed to her hearts content and took many trips to ride bicycles on trails with her brothers, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Harvey Schmidt, and brother Robert Herning of Collierville, Tennessee.  Jeanette is survived by her brother John Herning of Shawnee Oklahoma as well as nieces, nephews and in-laws she was close with.  The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Carolyn Spiegel of Bolivar, Missouri for watching over "Aunt Jeanette" as closely as if she herself were family.
