Jeanette's obituary
Born in 1957 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jeanette moved to Abilene, Texas in 1974 to be closer to her sister Patricia. It was there in Abilene that she surrendered her life to Christ under the tutelage of Reverend C.C. Hinds of King Solomon Baptist Church. While in Abilene, she started a family of her own, producing three sons: Jermont, Jason and Jared. Jeanette wanted to provide her family with more opportunities and eventually relocated to Arlington, Texas.
Being a social butterfly, Jeanette flourished as a hairstylist and loved spending time at the salon with her clients. Many of whom became her close friends and kept in touch with her long after her retirement as a beautician. Keen to working with her hands, Jeanette was a prolific artist that loved to paint and often couldn't seem to find enough hours in the day to put her creations on canvas.
From an early age, Jeanette was a talented seamstress. She was known for designing and constructing several one-of-a-kind pieces. On any given Sunday, you could find her singing in her soprano voice while fashioned in the latest hat that she had created herself. Jeanette loved to sing, and her home was always filled with the sounds of her favorite musical artists. Her favorite pastimes were watching movies with her grandchildren, telling stories of her colorful youth, and shopping with her sister, Lois.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her father, William Artist, Jr; mother, Mary Jeanette Jackson-Artist; as well as her brother, George S. Jackson II, and her sister Patricia Ann Henderson.
She is survived by her loving sons: Jermont (Mitchiko) Jackson, Jason (Dana) Jackson, Jared (Marina) Jackson, her grandchildren: Zakiary, Hailie, Makenzie, Layla, Gabrielle, Jaycie, Josiah, and her remaining siblings: Calvin Jackson, Donald Jackson, William Jackson, Lois Truitt, Tina Rivers, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
