Jeanette's obituary
Jeanette "Mom" Dollar, lovingly known as Mom but preferred Jeanette, passed away on March 12, 2024. Born on August 5, 1953, Jeanette lived a rich and full life, touching many hearts with her kindness, sweetness, and wisdom.
Jeanette is survived by her beloved spouse, Alan Dollar, her caring children, Michael Sharp, Katelyn Dollar, and Jack Sharp, and her adoring grandchildren, Mason Sharp, Madison Sharp, Samantha Hinton, and Cody Sharp. She is also survived by her mother Peggy Downs, her sisters Peggy Jeane and Judy Downs, and her daughter-in-law Summer Dolan. Jeanette was predeceased by her brother George Downs, her father Edward Downs, and her ex-husband Jack Sharp SR.
A faithful attendee at Saint John's Cathedral, Jeanette cherished sharing meals of Mexican food with her family, washing them down with a refreshing Pepsi Cola. She drew strength and solace from books on self-improvement and dealing with emotions, and she took great joy in immersing herself in music that ranged from Fleetwood Mac, Tina Turner, and Led Zeppelin to Melissa Etheridge, B-52's, and Simply Red. Jeanette found relaxation in the TV show "Scandal" and the movie "Beaches", while Leonardo Da Vinci's art provided her with inspiration. A lover of slot machines, her favorite recreational activity was spending time with friends and family. She loved walking, especially in her favorite local spots such as Art Hops and vacation spot, Pismo Beach.
Jeanette was known for her honest and caring personality. Her favorite color was pink, perhaps reflecting the gentleness and warmth she brought to those around her. She was wise beyond her years, always reminding others that even when you don't have much, you can still give a lot.
One of Jeanette's greatest achievements was graduating from high school and being a single parent to three perfect children. Her legacy is a poignant testament to her enduring spirit - a legacy of kindness, gratitude, and selflessness. Her life was a beautiful example of how to give and provide for others despite having little oneself.
Her loss is deeply felt by her children, who are going through a difficult time adjusting to a life without their caring and loving Mom. Jeanette will forever remain in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
