Jean's obituary

Jean Barbara Triggiani passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2023. Jean was born September 28, 1922 and grew up in Patterson, New Jersey with one older brother Frank and one younger brother, Anthony. Her childhood took place during the depression, and she later would speak of finding great solace from her afternoons at the library, spent reading books.

Jean went to secretarial school and worked for the Otis Elevator Company as a young woman. Later in life she was a secretary at her church rectory and an active member of St. Paul the Apostle Church on Long Island, NY. Jean met her husband Matt at a mutual cousin’s wedding. They were engaged before Matt deployed overseas during World War II and maintained a correspondence with each other during his entire deployment.

Jean and Matt were married on May 5th, 1946 and remained together for nearly 60 years. In a 2007 “Who’s Who” article for Thornton Oaks Retirement Community, Matt glowed, “she’s still beautiful”.

Jean loved cooking for her family. She was a master at setting a beautiful table and preparing delicious family meals. Her family retains many of her famous recipes. She loved her family above all else and did everything to support her children and grandchildren to help them build successful lives. She was also a dedicated friend to many and was still contacting her friends at the age of 100 years.

Jean is succeeded by her son and daughter, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She had many “adopted” children and grandchildren as well and was loved by so many. Her vibrant spirit will be sorely missed.
