Jeannie's obituary

Jean Marie Tamayo
May 25, 1961 – July 9, 2025

With deep love and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jean Marie Tamayo, who left this world peacefully on July 9, 2025, at the age of 64. Jean was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose warmth, strength, and unwavering love shaped the lives of all who knew her.

Born on May 25, 1961, Jean lived a life full of compassion, resilience, and selflessness. She was a free spirit who lived life loud, unafraid to be herself and always encouraging others to do the same. Her favorite reminder—“dance like nobody’s watching”—wasn’t just advice, it was how she lived. Whether through laughter, music, or her bold sense of humor, Jean brought color and joy to every room she entered.

And then there was her goofy, unforgettable laugh—the kind of laugh that made everyone else start laughing too. It was pure Jean: infectious, unfiltered, and full of life. Just hearing it could turn your day around. That laugh will echo forever in the hearts of those who loved her.

In her teenage and young adult years, Jean developed a deep and lasting passion for horseback riding, training, and care. Her time spent with horses brought her peace, purpose, and pride. She poured countless hours into understanding and connecting with these animals, forming bonds built on trust, patience, and love. The barn was her sanctuary, and the lessons she learned there—about grace, strength, and responsibility—stayed with her throughout her life.

Jean went on to serve her community as a dispatcher at Eppley Airfield, where she dedicated herself to helping others in moments of need. With calm under pressure and a steady, compassionate voice, she provided vital support and coordination. Her work was a testament to her quick thinking, empathy, and unshakable sense of duty.

She is survived by her children: Timothy Parrack, Annissa (Sean) Henley, Richelle (Jeremy) Lassek, and Richard (Kimberly) Lassek. Jean was a proud and devoted grandmother to Nickolas Burk, Riley Burk, Atalissa Burk, Beckett Draper, Elsie Henley, Kaden Burbank, Anders Budka, Elijah Lassek, Norah Henley, Briar Draper, Lydia Henley, and Brooklyn Lassek. She was also blessed to welcome her great-grandchild, Asante Parrish, into the world.

Jean was preceded in death by her father, Richard Cronk; her mother, Mary Cronk; and her sister, Sheryl Witkowsky. Their memories live on, and we take comfort knowing she is reunited with them.

Jean’s love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. Her legacy will continue to live on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, who will carry forward her memory with honor, joy, and a touch of her signature wild spirit.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held on July 14, 2025 at the Omaha Firefighters Union Hall, located at 6005 Grover Street, Omaha, NE 68106.
The celebration will begin at 12:00 p.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness and time spent with loved ones—just as Jean would have wanted.
Memorial contributions are also appreciated and can be made to the family in whatever way feels most meaningful to you.

Jean Marie Tamayo will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
