Obituary for Jean Studer

JEAN MARIE STUDER

1937 – 2026

Jean Marie Studer, 88, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on February 24, 2026, passing peacefully while surrounded by her loving family.

Jean was born on June 6, 1937, in Aberdeen, WA, to Eugene M. Taylor and Leona Britt Taylor. Jean was raised on the family’s dairy farm in the Wynooche Valley. She grew up in a devoted Christian home where faith, hard work, and love of family were the foundation of daily life. She lost her father at age 15, a profound loss that strengthened the close bond she shared with her mother and brother. Jean graduated from Montesano High School in 1955. Just ten days later, married her high school sweetheart, Ted L. Studer, and headed to Los Angeles where Ted attended electronic school.

An opportunity with Lockheed Corporation took them to Honolulu, HA, where Jean worked as a legal secretary for Henry J. Kaiser. Jean very much enjoyed living the Hawaiian life and the aloha spirit. After four years, Lockheed transferred them to Vandenberg Air Force Base, where Jean worked at the tracking station.

Eventually, they settled in Santa Maria where they raised their 4 children. Jean loved life and was always ready for the next family adventure. Embraced camping, water skiing, 4-H, Rainbow Girls, FFA, church activities, and sporting events. She was always involved, offering her positive attitude, steady encouragement, and endless energy.

For more than 50 years, Jean worked as a Real Estate Agent and Broker Associate, serving her community with integrity and kindness. She viewed her work not simply as a career, but as a ministry of helping families and building lasting friendships along the way.

As empty nesters, Jean and Ted enjoyed square dancing, traveling in their motorhome, and exploring the world together. Jean was active in church groups, Bible studies, choir, ukulele, Kingdom Cruisers RV club, Minerva Club, Orcutt Oasis, and the Elks.

Her greatest joy in life was being a mother of 4, and being the matriarch “Grammy” of 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and love that will continue for generations.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Leona Taylor, her brother John M. Taylor, and her beloved husband, Ted L. Studer. No doubt there was a joyful reunion in heaven.

She is survived by her children Tina Russell (Michael), Taed Studer (Sue), Teri Gambril (Rick), and Tonia Kleinsmith (Kenneth). Her grandchildren Cammie Russell, Cassie Boyd (Tony), Tyrell Russell (Laccee), Sean Studer (Sofia), Casey Studer, Jessica Iwerks (David), Cody Gambril (Jacqueline), Clayton Gambril (Shannon), Kenneth Kleinsmith (Stephanie), Kyle Kleinsmith (Laura), Kris Kleinsmith (Marissa), Koleton Kleinsmith (Korinna). And her 24 great-grandchildren: Jackson and Penelope Studer; Riggin, Payson, Greyson, and Bailynn Russell; Dylan, Keelie, and Maverick Boyd; Sadie, Carlene, Whitaker, and Griffin Iwerks; Harrison, Lucy, Henry, and Bryson Gambril; Cade and Cash Gambril; Eloise, Jack, and Oliver Kleinsmith; Aleksander and Deklan Kleinsmith.

We know our mom’s caring spirit, incredible joy, faith and genuine love will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life service for Jean Marie Studer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Grace Bible Church, 100 Rodeo Dr. Arroyo Grande, CA 93420
