1937 -2024
Jean Elizabeth DeCouto, 87, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, in Marietta, GA. Born in August 1937, she was a beloved Mother and Grandmother, who dedicated her life to her family and to caring for others as a Registered Nurse, a career that was both her calling and passion.
Jean was a lovely women known for her style and vibrant personality, marked by a friendly demeanor and an infectious sense of humor. She often lightened the spirits of those around her with jokes and silly songs, bringing joy and laughter to many. An active member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marietta, GA, Jean cherished her church family and was deeply involved with her congregation.
Her love for travel often took her to the beach, where she found great peace and enjoyment. Jean was also an avid player of card games and Scrabble, and she appreciated classic movies, reading, and dancing, which were sources of relaxation and pleasure throughout her life. Above all she was a proud and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, Anthony (Tony) DeCouto , they had just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, they adored each other and modeled a loving and caring relationship to the entire family; she is also survived by her brother Christian Dittmar and her cherished family; sons, Mark DeCouto, John DeCouto (wife Sheree), David DeCouto (wife Doreen), and Lisa DeCouto; grandchildren, Mitchell (wife Mollie), Geoffrey (wife Jainey), Grant (wife Yasmeen), Carmen, Alex (wife Lisa), Paul, Trevor, Danielle, and Faye Richardson; step-grandchildren, Seth Beeler, Stefen (Peter) Beeler-Duden, and Sterling Beeler; and great-grandchildren, Jones, Marley, Caleb , Laiden, Margot, Michelle , Oliver and Ambrose. Jean was preceded in death by her son, Matthew S. DeCouto.
A memorial service to celebrate Jean's life will be held on October 30, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, located at 4814 Paper Mill Road, Marietta, GA 30067.
Jean's life was a testament to her kindness, compassion, and the enduring impact she had on those around her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
