Jean Eliude's obituary

Jean Eliude Beaugelin, affectionately known as “Eliude” and “Tonton Tiude”, passed on from this life on June 21, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on September 24, 1941, in Petit Goave, Haiti, he lived a life filled with charisma, humor, and an unforgettable presence.

Eliude was a man of many gifts, a traditional healer whose wisdom in herbal medicine, prayer, and spiritual guidance brought comfort and healing to countless loved ones. An avid reader and student of the Bible and theology, he taught himself to read portions of the Hebrew Torah and memorized parts of the Mitzvot, embodying his lifelong hunger for wisdom and truth. His talents extended to art, pastoring, and teaching, leaving behind a legacy as rich as it was varied.

He is survived by a wife, two sons, five daughters, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, as well as his beloved siblings, nieces, and nephews. He especially cherished his role as a brother and uncle, earning the name “Tonton Tiude” with love and joy. Eliude died as he lived, on his own terms, in his own way, and by his own faith.
