Jean's obituary

On January 1, 2024, Jean Ruth (Degenhardt) Anders, of Flower Mound, TX, passed away unexpectedly with her family by her side. She was 67 years old. Jean was a loving wife, mom, and dear friend. She had a warm heart, welcoming smile, and loved to laugh. She will be deeply missed.

Born with her twin sister, Joan, on September 26, 1956 in Tomah, Wisconsin to Sylvan and Florence (Rosenow) Degenhardt. Jean was a beloved wife to Scott, her husband of 45 years. They were blessed with two sons, Eric and Mark, and nothing made Jean happier than becoming a mom.

Jean and Scott moved several times to chase career opportunities and new adventures, moving from Wisconsin, to Indiana, and finally ending up in Texas. Jean had a long and successful professional career in telecommunications with General Telephone & Electronic Corporation and Verizon combined. Throughout her career she traveled and made new friends, but none were as special to her as her best friend Kathy Foy, and her “Hen Friends”. Their vacations and time together were filled with laughs, giggles and grins.

After 30 years with GTE/Verizon in various managerial positions, Jean retired and enjoyed her time in the family pool, reading, crafting, and sewing - many of her projects being donated to charity organizations. She was an avid Indianapolis 500 fan, as well as the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Brewers. Go Pack Go! and Go Bucky! were her go-to text messages sent to us all on game days.

Jean is survived by her husband, Scott; son Eric (Laura); son Mark (Jaclyn); five sisters: Dorothy, Donna, Esther, her twin Joan (Brian), and Sharon; four brothers: Richard, Joseph (Sharon), John (Phyllis) and Norbert (Maureen). She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Cathy and Marie.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at a future date in Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local Ronald McDonald House Charities, or American Heart Association.
