Jean Bateman, 87, originally from Chicago, passed away on January 9th 2022. Jean was born on July 7th 1934 to John Solomon Cain and Alice Nelson-Cain in Chicago Illinois. After graduating from Parker High School, she studied at Woodrow Wilson Junior College with plans of becoming a nurse, however was unable to graduate, as she dedicated herself to caring for her mother. Jean met the love of her life, through friends, in the 1950s, Thomas Bernard Bateman, and they wed August 21, 1959 , which was also Jean's parents 50th wedding anniversary. Going on to have 4 children, Keith Ahlan, Keith Scott, Kimberly Alyce, Kevin John. When Jean had her children she dedicated her life to being the best and most caring and loving mother she could be, supporting and sharing many great milestones great memories along the way, even after the death of her husband Thomas at the age of 45. Jean went back to work in 1979 to work for Sears Roebuck/Sears Tower, and retired in 2001. In the early years, Jean enjoyed crafts, sewing, being a caregiver for some of her grandchildren, and then later enjoyed all she could do on the computer. Most everyone she knew got a personalized card made on her computer. Her favorite place was Lake Catherine and the Swans. We love her will miss her greatly. Jean was predeceased in death by her parents Alice(Nelson) and John Cain, her first born son Keith Ahlan, her husband Thomas Bernard, and sisters Rhoda, Ruth, Alice and Frances. She is survived by her children, son Keith Scott Bateman (Donna Malczak), daughter Kimberly Alyce Bateman-Polowinczak (Allen Polowinczak), and son Kevin John Bateman. Her grandchildren Susan Ashley Bateman-Gleason (Patrick Gleason III), Natasha Marie Bateman, Thomas Casey Bateman, Andrea Elizabeth Polowinczak, Melanie Amber Polowinczak, Valerie Ann Polowinczak. Her great grandchildren Corri Elizabeth Gleason, Patrick James Gleason IV. And many other caring family and friends. The family requests that all notes/cards are sent to 2860 Abbington Drive, New Lenox, Illinois, 60451. No flowers necessary. It was Jean's wish to have a fireless cremation and a memorial service when able. Memorial service is being planned and will be by April 2022.
