Jayne's obituary

Jayne Cherie Ebanks, 66 ( formerly Posthumus/Hembre) passed away peacefully March 6, 2026 surrounded by her husband, children, and close family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and strength.

Jayne was a natural nurturer, friend and mother figure to those around her.  Her kitchen was the heart of her world. She loved to cook and she was famous for saying, “If you go home hungry, it’s your own damn fault.” Her meals were more than food — they were comfort, connection, and an expression of the deep love she carried for everyone who walked through her door.

Jayne spent her final years in Fort Myers, Florida, a place whose sunshine and white sand beaches matched her love for beauty, music, and movement. She was never happier than when she was traveling, dancing, or listening to the songs that made her soul shine.

People looked up to her, not just for her strength, but for the way she made others feel seen, welcomed, and loved.

Jayne cherished her husband, Kelvin, and the family who surrounded her with devotion. Though she will be deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing she is reunited in heaven with her beloved mother, whom she missed dearly and held close in her heart throughout her life.

Jayne’s laughter, kindness, and strength will live on in all who knew her. Her memory will remain a blessing and a reminder to embrace life with the same joy, generosity, and magic she carried so effortlessly.

There will not be a memorial service held. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
