Jayna's obituary
Jayna L. Eckler, born Jayna L. Arnold peacefully passed away on August 28 2023 at the age of 89 in hospice in Ypsilanti Michigan. She was born September 12 1933 in Sparks Oklahoma, the oldest of 3 children of Leo and Ellen Arnold. The family moved to Plymouth Michigan when Jayna was 4 . She grew up in Plymouth where she graduated High School, married Dwighton Eckler and raised her children.
Newly single, she moved to Ann Arbor Michigan in 1975, where she resided until her death.
She was a successful realtor and broker in and around Ann Arbor for 50 years.
Beyond her career, Jayna had a passion for painting and was an accomplished artist whose stunning work adorns many offices and private residences.
Jayna also found joy in playing bridge and was known for her skills in the game.
Jayna's love for equality and civil rights was evident throughout her life. She actively supported the Civil Rights Movement.
Additionally she was a devoted fan of the Detroit Pistons and loved watching basketball.
Jayna had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, filling her residences with an abundance of flowers and vegetable gardens. Jayna Eckler is survived by her two children Andrea (Brian) Eckler-Giddens and Brent (Lori Stubbs) Eckler along with 4 grandchildren Alexa Eckler, Matthew (Meaghan) Eckler, Gabrielle Eckler-Giddens and Tyler Eckler. She also leaves behind 5 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jayna was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Arnold and her sister Betty Lamphear.
In accordance with her wishes no memorial services will be held for Jayna. Instead she requested that those who wish to honor her her memory consider planting a tree or making a donation to the charity of their choice.
Jayna Eckler will be remembered for her contributions as a realtor and her artistic talent. For her passion for equality and her love for her friends.
Her legacy will live on thru her paintings and the impact she made on those around her.
