Jay's obituary

December 31, 1955 – January 17, 2019
Jay Alan Howard, age 63, went to live with Jesus from sudden cardiac arrest on January 17, 2019. Jay was born December 31, 1955 to Philip and Olive (Swenson) Howard. Jay graduated from Osseo High School, MN in 1974, was an Eagle Scout, and graduated from North Central Bible College with a BA in Behavioral Science. Jay was a counter cult expert, international lecturer, conference organizer, missionary to cultists, author of Confronting the Cultist in the New Age, amateur stand-up comic, and councilor who devoted his life to trying to help those who were harmed by destructive groups.
Jay married Melanie Willard on May 7, 1983. Jay was known for his love of serving God, first and foremost, and for his quirky sense of humor which we lovingly referred to as “Howard humor”. Also, he worked with Royal Ranger boys for 11 years.
Jay is survived by his wife, Melanie of almost 36 years, brother Jon (Kathy) Howard of Little Canada, MN; sister Jeanne (Bill) Jeska of Champlin, MN; sister-in-law Kristi Howard; beloved cousin Dort Swenson; Sisters and brothers of Melanie; Kristin, Martin, Rosalie, Steve, Jan Marie, Dave and Lynne and many nieces and nephews.
Jay is preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Randy.
Memorial services are : Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019 in the Hocking Hills, Ohio-officiated by Pastor Carl Harris, from Gettysburg PA
and May 17th at Revive Church in MN. Cards may be sent to Melanie Howard – c/o W. Logan Wesleyan Church, 1221 Trimmer Street, Logan, OH 43138.
