Jason Otto Widowski, age 54, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Jason was born in Amarillo, Texas, to Clifford Widowski and Judith Myers Widowski. He was a devoted and loving husband to Jimmy for 31 years. Jason had a deep desire to serve his country and chose to enlist in the United States Navy. During his distinguished 10-year military career, he was stationed in Keflavik, Iceland, and the jungles of Panama, and he completed two tours during the Gulf War Crisis. In 1998, Jason and his fellow shipmates had the honor of commissioning the USS Harry S. Truman, a Nimitz-class nuclear aircraft carrier. Following his military service, Jason embarked on a successful and fulfilling career with The Guardian Life Insurance Company. A passionate football fan, Jason was devoted to the Dallas Cowboys. He and Jimmy shared a love for travel, often seeking out the most beautiful beaches along the East Coast. However, no destination ever surpassed Jason’s deep affection for the magnificent Florida Gulf Coast. The annual Widowski family vacation to the Gulf Coast was the highlight of every year. Many cherished memories were made during these trips—memories that will live on in the hearts of family and friends forever. It became a well-known tradition that Jason would always find a way to extend their stay by an extra day or two, ensuring more time to soak in the sun and surf. Jason was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), The American Legion, and the Frederick Elks Lodge, where he previously served as an officer. He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved "fur baby" Buster, and his sister-in-law Nhadiah. He is survived by his husband Jimmy and their cherished lap companion Kingsley; his brothers Shain of Amarillo, Texas, and Adam and wife Kristi of Greenville, North Carolina; his father-in-law Thomas O’Rourke; sisters-in-law Leilah White of Portsmouth, Virginia, and Mena O’Rourke of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brother-in-law Thomas O’Rourke Jr. of Waynesboro, Virginia; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A celebration of Jason’s life will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.
