Jason Michael Mikolay, 48, passed away March 5, 2020, with his family by his side. After several years of bravely battling near-constant health issues associated with severe diabetes, his body finally succumbed, but his beautiful spirit lives on.

Born March 9, 1971 in Highland Park, IL, Jason grew up in Lake Zurich, IL and spent most of his years living in Lake County, IL, before moving to Nevada last year.

A die-hard fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Bears and Manchester United teams, Jason would raise everybody’s sports IQ when talking sports. He also had a passion for 80s rock music, enjoying the sounds of bands such as Def Leppard, the Scorpions, Guns & Roses and Aerosmith.
Beyond spending time with his family, Jason also loved the outdoors, nature and animals and spending time with his Wally Dog.

During his working years, he was a production scheduler and youth hockey coach with his dear friend, Efren Heredia.

Jason is survived by his wife, Beth Mikolay and fur-son, Wally; his parents, Raymond “Mick” and Susanne Mikolay; siblings Michelle Gallagher, Nicole (Travis) Campbell, Jessica (Scott) Madsen; nephews and nieces Andrew, Ryan & Caitlin Gallagher, Tyler & Landon Campbell, Bryant and Harper Madsen, Jessy, Scotty & Landon Niedzwiecki; father-in-law Norbert J. Niedzwiecki; brother-in-laws Brian, Scott (Angie), Jason (Lauren) and sister-in-law Samantha (Andrew) Niedzwiecki.
Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray & Sylvia Mikolay and Morris & Marge Milner; uncle James Mikolay; Aunt Rossa Chambers; mother-in-law Kathleen Niedzwiecki; and brother-in-law Jay Niedzwiecki.

A celebration of Jason’s life will be planned for early summer 2020 in Illinois.
