Jason's obituary
It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we mourn the passing of Jason "J" Medina, known affectionately as J, born on September 21, 1978, and taken from us too soon on June 29, 2023. A man of faith, Jason's warmth and benevolence touched many people in his lifetime. He was a bible teacher at the Fort Collins Homeless Shelter, and Sunday school teacher and a regular attendee at his local church, the Calvary Chapel Fort Collins.
Jason leaves behind a substantial family who will cherish his memory. Surviving him are his loving wife Jessica Jimenez Hanson Medina, his children: Anthonio, Annaliyah, and Amalachi Medina. His siblings: Jessica, Jonah, Jeremiah, and Joshua Medina, his sister-in-law Melissa Medina and his sister Kelsey Jimenez- Lopez. His mother Kathy Gates, his grandparents: Jane Hanson, Gina Sanitasteven and Chris Jimenez. His in-laws: Michelle Jimenez, Heather Hanson and John Hanson, his sister-in-laws: Alyssa, Katie Hanson and his many Aunts and Uncles. Jason will also be fondly remembered by his friends and other family members.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Alicia Medina, who left this life too soon, grandparents: Emma and Felix Sanchez, Ben and Mary Jimenez. His aunts and uncles: Patrick Coin-Sanchez, Cindy and Terry Sanchez were also waiting to welcome him into heaven's arms.
The light that Jason brought into our world was enriched by his vibrant personality, described as loud, generous, selfless, loyal, faithful, thoughtful, kind, helpful, caring, and at times, aggressive. He loved Hamburgers, Steak, Noodles, Chile Fries, Popcorn, Ice Cream and his preferred drinks were Coffee, Energy Drinks, Ice Tea. His taste in music spanned all genres, with favorites such as "He Knows My Name," "One Day at a Time Sweet Jesus," and "If You’re Not The One".
Jason shared his love for The Broncos and enjoyed playing Softball and spending time at the gym. He loved the outdoors, cherished his family time, was passionate about fishing, gardening, and growing house plants. His favorite local spot was the Softball field, and his favorite color was Blue. His favorite book was The Bible, and among his favorite shows were Survivorman, Lake Monsters, and Dr. Phil. His favorite movies were The Hobbit, The Princess Bride, and The Lion King.
A celebration of Jason's life will be held on July 22, 2023, at 11:30 PM at the Calvary Chapel Fort Collins, followed by a reception at the VFW right after the service at 603 Lesser Dr. Jason's legacy, his devotion to God, his family, and his unparalleled kindness, will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His greatest accomplishments were his children, his wife Jessica, and his entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven. The lesson he leaves behind is to never lose Faith. His spirit and memory will forever be a guiding light, a testament to his indomitable faith and resilient spirit. Rest in peace, Jason. You will forever be missed, but never forgotten.
