Jason's obituary
Jason was born on November 3rd, 1974 to parents Joe and Judy in Walnut Creek, CA. After graduating from San Ramon Valley High School in 1994, he worked for AT&T as a splicing technician for 17 years. He enjoyed working outdoors and solving problems. He loved his coworkers like a family.
In 2011, he met Kristyl (Gotchall) at a BBQ. They got married in 2013 in a lovely ceremony in their own backyard. In 2014 Kristyl gave birth to their daughter, Averi Joy, whose middle name says it all. Together they enjoyed so many outdoor adventures. They traveled to Mexico and Puerto Rico, but spent much of their time exploring California - from San Diego to Mendocino. They loved to kayak, hike, and bike.
Jason was a force of nature, determined to fight his lung cancer diagnosis and live a fun life with his family. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Averi and Kristyl and took good care of them. He had to quit his job for cancer treatments in 2014. So while Kristyl was at work, he devoted his time to taking care of Averi and cooking delicious meals for them.
Jason was also a passionate hunter and fisher and could often be found with his buddy Steve Kelly in a duck blind or on a fishing boat when he wasn’t at home.
Anyone who knew Jason knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. He was predeceased by his grandparents. He is survived by his wife Kristyl, daughter Averi, parents Joe and Judy, brothers Jamie (Carrie) and Darin (Rose), Kristyl's parents Bill and Sandra, brother-in-law Jason Gotchall (Jenny), nieces Melanie Karg, Haley, Reese and Kamryn Gotchall, nephews Tyler Karg, Kyle Karg and Kaden Gotchall and many friends.
