I met Jason when we were stationed at Ft. Ord, CA. He was three, the son of my friend Carol. Carol and I met through the officers wives club. What a beautiful little guy he was! He and my daughter Katrina were playmates. They liked Star Wars figures, Weebles, the swing set, books, and playing dress-up in old clothes. Jason was so smart! And a really cool kid.
When he was five or so, our families were living in Sacramento, and I was training to be a dental assistant at the junior college. I took Jason to class with me to practice polishing teeth. He was a good patient, but really didn’t like all those hands in his mouth!
Years later I was living in South Georgia, and Jason came to visit. It was rodeo weekend there, so he and I went to ABAC college and watched. I was impressed with his quick wit and sometimes acid tongue!
That was the last time I saw Jason. We were in contact on FB for a while after his move to Virginia, but that eventually stopped. I wish, like so many others do, I had known he was not doing well, and could have helped him in some way.
I will always remember his sarcasm and smug smile, and his intelligence.
Rest in peace, Jason 💔❤️🩹
