Jason's obituary

Jason Duane Williams, 48, of Taylor, TX, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023.

Jason was born September 13, 1975, in Austin, TX, but spent most of his life in Taylor, TX. He was a huge fan of the Texas Aggies and followed all of their sports. He loved to watch The History Channel, Investigation Discovery, and Animal Planet (he was still waiting for  Architeuthis to be captured alive). He was sharp as a tack and seemed to know something about everything. He was also a human repository for useless, albeit intriguing, information that made way for some interesting conversations. Jason was a very private, enigmatic person but he was also charming, quick-witted and entertaining. He was a master of sarcasm and one-liners and he had the most unique laugh you’d recognize anywhere.

Jason’s greatest accomplishment and his favorite person in the world was his nine-year-old son Reid Tyler Williams. He was a loving father who wanted to give that little boy the best of everything. He was a committed companion to Stephanie, Reid’s mom, and although their relationship wasn’t conventional and consisted of many peaks and valleys, he loved her and she loved him and they made many happy memories that Reid and Stephanie will hold in their hearts for as long as they live.

Reid’s favorite memories with his dad include golfing, fishing at the farm and shooting at targets with BB guns. They loved doing anything outdoors and spent a lot of time practicing baseball and working in the yard. Each year, they planted and tended to a garden in the backyard of their home. Reid enjoyed being included when his dad was working on projects around the house. Jason took advantage of any opportunity to teach Reid how to take care of himself and his future family. Reid misses him tremendously and wants everyone to know his dad was the best dad.

Jason is survived by his son and best buddy Reid, his kindred spirit and companion Stephanie Thonig, his parents and step parents, brothers, and numerous other relatives and friends.
