Background

Jasmine's passing was a sudden and unforeseen tragedy, the result of gun violence inflicted by an unknown assailant. At the time, she was visiting her daughter, who is pursuing her graduate studies, and her Aunt during the holiday season.

Prior to her untimely demise on January 1, 2024, Jasmine had made a selfless choice. In February 2022, she made the decision to leave her job to become a live-in caregiver for her mother, who had been grappling with a devastating and debilitating illness along with numerous complications for the past 20 months. During this challenging period, Jasmine dedicated herself entirely to her mother's care, without any source of income, insurance, or financial support.

**In Loving Memory: The Life and Legacy of Jasmine Nicole Ivy**

Jasmine Nicole Ivy, a beacon of light and hope to all who knew her, was born on March 18, 1981, to Victori Paige (née Phyllis J. Matthews) and Keith Boyd. Her journey, marked by faith, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, tragically ended on January 1, 2024, due to gun violence. Despite the brevity of her life, Jasmine's legacy is a testament to the profound impact one individual can have on the world around them.

From her early days, Jasmine's life was a melody of faith and purpose. Raised with a deep-seated belief in God, she became a pillar of strength within the New Life Worship Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, under the guidance of Pastor John Ramsey, Sr. Jasmine's devotion was evident through her active participation in the church's prayer ministry and her regular attendance at services alongside her family, embodying a spirit of community and compassion.

Jasmine's brilliance shone brightly from a young age. She was known for her eloquence, rapid learning capabilities, and a diligent work ethic that set her apart. Her education at St. Richard's Episcopal School laid the foundation for lifelong friendships and a journey marked by achievement and determination. Jasmine's passion for the arts led her to join a traveling theater troupe during her elementary years and later, to grace the stage with several gospel groups while attending Bloomington University.

Her academic pursuits were as diverse as her talents. After graduating from North Central High School, Jasmine attended Indiana University Bloomington, where she majored in Journalism and Public Relations. She furthered her education by earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in 2012, followed by a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Public Management and Urban Affairs. In 2017, Jasmine achieved a significant milestone by earning a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

Jasmine's professional life was as impactful as her academic one. She served at Bose McKinney & Evans LLP, specializing in collective bargaining and making her mark as an Inaugural Diversity Fellow-Associate. Her tenure at Indiana University of Health, Riley Children's Hospital, in Human Resources showcased her dedication to employee engagement, talent management, and initiating change. Jasmine's colleagues will remember her for her bright personality, kindness, and the positive atmosphere she created.

Above all, Jasmine's role as a mother to her daughter, Amarah Alexia Marie Ivy, was her most cherished accomplishment. She embraced motherhood with open arms, guiding Amarah with wisdom and love, inspired by the words of Proverbs 22:6. Jasmine's legacy as a nurturing mother, a confidant, and a friend remains a beacon of light.

Jasmine, affectionately known as "Jas," was a multifaceted individual whose creativity, intelligence, and competitive spirit were admired by all. Her love for music, poetry, and dance, combined with her unique style and charismatic presence, made her unforgettable. Jasmine lived her life on her own terms, inspiring others to do the same with confidence and pride.

Though Jasmine Nicole Ivy's earthly journey has concluded, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering faith. Jasmine will forever be remembered, and her memory will continue to inspire and guide us. We bid her a peaceful rest, knowing that one day, we will be reunited with our beloved Jasmine once again.
