From an Art School droog and fellow lifelong creative, sending love and condolences to your family, and safe passage to the next chapter in the infinite journey… Love and light, and here’s to your next adventure…
This is the best written obituary I've ever read and that's saying a lot. I was not a close friend of Jared's but always knew he was a beneficial entity in this town, country, world. We worked together on a cover story I did with Metro Pulse 15 or more years ago. It was about a ska music festival coming to town and he had to wrangle a ton of photos and cover art from various out of town sources including a Japanese graphic artist whose English was minimal. In our exchange of emails, I had a mental lapse and mangled the ska battle cry to keep us engaged properly. He immediately emailed the correction "CHECK IT OUT! CHECK IT OUT! CHECK IT OUT! " From that moment on, I knew he was the perfect partner to be handling the layout end at Metro Pulse. I'm just ill that things worked out this way for Jared. Chronic pain is a demon. Peace to Jennifer and fam.
From one of your yoga students from long ago - Maria Gillen - my heart and prayers and support are with you all.

This is a beautifully written memorial!  Captures the magic of his life. His full life.   I loved every single detail you shared. Jared was such a memorable person. I'll always remember fondly that he was the only person at a Thanksgiving dinner that could figure out what flavoring I had put in the odd cranberry sauce that year.  Jen,  my heart is so sad for you and yours and I wish you peace .  Lovingly, Fay K. Shrock

Angeline  we are so sorry to hear of your loss. You are in our hearts and prayers, if there is anything we can do please let us know. We love you so much Burly Bob & Jean

So very sorry to hear this news and for your loss. Your extended family is in our thoughts and we send you hope for strength and peace. This is a beautiful tribute to him. I worked with him also at Java (Hi Len) and MetroPulse, a formative time for us all and I fondly remember his wit, sense of humor, beautiful eyes and his stellar designs. One of a kind. I'm sorry to hear he suffered so much pain but glad to hear he lived a beautiful life.
I worked with Jared at Java. Starling I was the tall long-haired Jesus-looking dude with the skinny legs. I don't now if they were his cds but he played them often and introduced me to Dead Can Dance, Coucteau Twins, Wolfgang Puck and The Stranglers ( whenever I see the album with the Black Panther on it, I think if him--give it a play and see if it reminds you of him too?)  I thought he was a prick the first few times I met him, but it wasn't long before I realized maybe that was just the test I had to pass before I could laugh with him.  My wish is that you be comforted in this moment and that your window of grieving be short. I pray that the good things he taught you all, you would pass those down to your kids and your children's children and then maybe his 50 + years on this earth will extend to centuries.

  • What an incredible tribute to Jared. I just want you to know I have you in my heart and am sending love to you. Karla let me know about what happened and I share the shock and heartbreak you and your family are experiencing. You have always been so open and honest and I know it will help you as I can see you have a wonderful support system. So much love to you and your family.                        Love and friendship, Shawn Brasher Schroeders
Jen, Max, and Starling~ Jared certainly made me giggle like a schoolgirl many evenings on the sidelines of AYSO, Gary Underwood, while the boys played soccer. Sending you so much love and the peace that passes all understanding. Love to you all❤️
Sam and I are holding you and your family are in our hearts. We know this loss personally. It's still too raw for me to attend funerals, but I'm here if you'd like to talk.

In 1991 I was in high school and Jared was a manager at Java coffee house. He gave me a job because he said I hung out there so much I might as well get paid for it. He was a great manager & friend. Such a smart, cool, funny guy and a real gentleman. All my love to his family.

Few knew  how Jared shaped the Imagination Movers early visual brand.

Even the bathroom men he created on our behalf made it to the Disney Channel as they introduced our early music videos.

What a memory!

Jared was so helpful to the Imagination Movers and as such we send our deepest condolences.

We knew Jared as a creative and the world is a little less so without his presence.

Dear Jen, what a beautiful tribute.   David and I  send you much love along with our deepest sympathy for the loss of Jared.
Jared was a caring and fun person to work with at NPRS.  We had many laughs together and we all will miss him terribly. Love and hugs to his family!
Jennifer, I'm just heartbroken for you and your family, and for Jared that he lived the last year of his life in so much pain. I remember him as a talented designer and a kind person.  He had the most gorgeous eyes and sweet smile.
