Jackie's obituary
In loving memory of our mother, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Purner, who passed away on March 27, 2023.
Jackie was born on March 6, 1936, to Violet Baranowski and Eugene Purner in Chicago. She grew up in Norridge, Illinois. She attended Steinmetz high school, where she graduated in 1954. Jackie met James "Jim" Purner, and they wed on August 27, 1955, going on to have three children, Michael, David, and Scott.
Jackie worked at Medinah North school as a secretary, where her sons attended elementary school. Then, she worked in data processing. Then went on to work as a crossing guard for the Roselle Police Station for many years.
Being a mother was one of the most important parts of Jackie's life, a role that gave her much pride and joy. Growing up, Jackie was always there for us, whether we needed help with homework or just a shoulder to cry on. She was a woman of strong faith and instilled in us the importance of family, hard work, and doing what is right.
As a young girl, Jackie loved riding her horse Jimmy. In her retirement years, Jackie enjoyed gardening, bowling at the Tuesday morning ladies bowling club, painting, and time with family and friends.
Our mother was a kind, caring, and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. Our mother was an inspiration to us all, and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched. We will miss her greatly.
She was Jim's beloved wife; Beverly's beloved sister; the beloved mother of Michael (and Kristie), David, and Scott; beloved grandmother to Nicole and Brandon; beloved great-grandmother to Liam, Ray, and Doli.
Jackie requested no services be held. The family will have a mass at St. Peter the Apostle Church in her honor. Jackie requested that we not host a visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. For information, call 630-250-8588 or visit www.TheOaksFH.com.
Mother, you will always be in our hearts, and we will never forget you. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
