Janis's obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Janis M Thompson, who left us on May 27, 2024. Born on April 15, 1971, Janis, also affectionately known as J, had a beautiful heart and was known for her warm, caring, and selfless nature.

Janis is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Sahlas, and their children Nicholas Sahlas, Samantha Franchi (Sahlas) and her husband Matt Franchi, and their daughter Senna, born August 2023, and her youngest, Matthew Sahlas.

Janis had the ability to find joy in simple pleasures. One of her favorite foods was her own special pasta sauce, who so many loved. She loved the music by Pat Benatar and was a loyal viewer of TV shows like Grey's Anatomy, Only Murders in the Building, and any program about cooking or home renovation.

Some of her favorite moments were hanging out and laughing with Stephen and seeing her new granddaughter, Senna, where she found her most profound happiness.

She also cherished spending time with her dog, Annie, often referred to lovingly as Annie Bannanie. Janis also enjoyed vacationing with her family in beautiful spots like Aruba and Sebago, Maine.

Beyond her love for family and the simple pleasures of life, Janis' greatest accomplishments were the ones closest to her heart, she dedicated her life raising and supporting her husband, their children, and extended family.

Through her actions, Janis imparted a crucial lesson to her family and friends: Family is most important, a belief she held dearly and demonstrated every day of her life.

Janis leaves behind a legacy of love. Often sharing the saying, "Love you, love you more, love you the most." Stephen Sahlas beautifully encapsulates her impact saying, "Janis has changed me from the man I was, to the better man I am today, she’ll be loved for eternity."

Janis has requested a small gathering with immediate family, and close friends, but we appreciate everyone's love and support and encourage everyone to share their favorite memories of Janis on this memorial site.

As we mourn the loss of our beloved Janis, we remember her vibrant spirit, unwavering love, and the precious moments she shared with us all.
